This is a short tale of amazing coincidence.

Sometimes when using old images for your source material, fate seeps in. I have installed my solo show, Contrary Impulses, at the Lizard Lounge in Portland’s Pearl District. The first photograph is a shot of a piece, Emma and Aurora, hanging in the show. I looks as if it was meant to hang in this spot.

Upon investigation, a friend pointed out that the jacket in the painting looks very similar to a jacket in the shop. She brought me over to the jacket, and it was remarkably similar, in fact…it was almost identical. She explained to me that this Fall Pendleton, a local(ish) company here in Portland, recreated a few articles based on vintage Pendleton items. This jacket, (shown in the second image) was modeled after a jacket originally made in 1929. Its the same jacket! The Lizard Lounge, where I am housing my work for the next month, has a recreation of a jacket that is featured in one of my paintings.

…just a little tid bit about an amazing, and odd, coincidence.
